Sediment Transport Patterns of Channels on Tidal Lowland

چکیده
Many reclaimed areas in Indonesia have abandoned swampland or idle land which is attributed to various factors. One of the main factors unsuitability exiting flow system this area since condition canals and water structures has not been rehabilitated for a long time. No study carried out investigate suitable model simulating appropriate criteria assessment erosion within channel on Tidal lowland Indonesia. This focuses investigation occurring Rural Channel Main Drainage Palembang, becomes originality manuscript. The was accumulation sediment transport tidal delta region Telang I. results research P8-13S scheme show that equilibrium observed average ranging from 3,301,859 m3 3,349,103 while sedimentation ranged 809,232–898,467 m3. very important minimizing possible near riverbank.

Tidal and meteorological forcing of sediment transport in tributary mudflat channels.
Field observations of flow and sediment transport in a tributary channel through intertidal mudflats indicate that suspended sediment was closely linked to advection and dispersion of a tidal salinity front. During calm weather when tidal forcing was dominant, high concentrations of suspended sediment advected up the mudflat channel in the narrow region between salty water from San Francisco Ba...
متن کاملCross-shore suspended sediment transport under tidal currents
The transport of sediment over an intertidal mudflat by a cross-shore tidal current is investigated analytically by formulating a mathematical model of the fluid and particulate motion. The model exploits the low gradient of the intertidal flats and is based upon a shallow-layer approximation. It is found that the sediment transport comprises advection with the mean flow, deposition and erosion...
متن کاملSeasonal sediment and nutrient transport patterns.
It is essential to understand sediment and nutrient sources and their spatial and temporal patterns to design effective mitigation strategies. However, long-term data sets to determine sediment and nutrient loadings are scarce and expensive to collect. The goal of this study was to determine seasonal patterns of suspended sediment (SS), total N (TN), and total P (TP) concentrations and loadings...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of Extreme Learning Machines and Support Vector Machines in Prediction of Sediment Transport in Open Channels
The limiting velocity in open channels to prevent long-term sedimentation is predicted in this paper using a powerful soft computing technique known as Extreme Learning Machines (ELM). The ELM is a single Layer Feed-forward Neural Network (SLFNN) with a high level of training speed. The dimensionless parameter of limiting velocity which is known as the densimetric Froude number (Fr) is predicte...
متن کاملInteractions of Waves, Tidal Currents and Riverine Outflow and their Effects on Sediment Transport (RIVET II)
Studying the mixing of riverine freshwater and coastal water is the fundamental step to further understand the balance of a coastal/estuarine ecosystem (e.g., Hickey et al. 2010), seabed properties, sediment budgets (Gelfenbaum & Kaminsky 2010), and the sustainable management of the fluvial-estuary habitat (e.g., damming, dredging). The nearfield of a river plume represents an energetic environ...
